How to Foster Organizational Resilience in Times of War?

Featuring
Dr. Dana Pereg
Work Psychologist, Head of OBD at Reichman University

In this episode, we delve into managing companies and organizations during emergency times, focusing on building organizational resilience. Together with Dr. Dana Pereg, a psychologist specializing in workplace dynamics and the head of the MA program in Organizational Behavior and Development at Reichman University, we explore the challenges facing diverse organizations amidst the war.

Our discussion centers around three circles: 'I', 'We', and 'It'. 'I' represents the personal wellbeing of the individual within the organization, 'We' emphasizes our relationships within and outside the organization - and situation-adapted communication as the basis for these relationships, and 'It' refers to managing the organization itself. We analyze the complex situations various bodies are dealing with, including frontline organizations, security and civilian bodies, businesses, global organizations and startups, with the goal of providing guidelines for action within the new routine we all face.

Dana and I (Gali) stress the importance of adapting our daily practices to effectively navigate these uncertain times. By maintaining a balanced routine, integrating physical activities, practicing mindfulness and limiting news exposure, we can maintain our own and employees' emotional wellbeing. Additionally, fostering open communication within the organization, using digital tools for remote work management and supporting employee needs are key strategies for enhancing resilience.

Our conversation underscores the significance of supportive management methods, defining agile  and synchronized efforts within organizations. We advocate maintaining business continuity through tailored management techniques, regular short meetings and leveraging new business opportunities that may arise amidst the crisis.

With unity within the organization and implementation of practical strategies to navigate these challenging times - we will emerge stronger.
